1. The central message of Mr. Dancealot is that in order for the students to understand what they are learning, the teacher should communicate better with the class. In this video the author makes the case for the conclusion by showing examples of what the professor reads directly from the slides and from his notes. He also stands behind the table when demonstrating for the class. He never lets the class interact and practice for themselves. I agree with the conclusion. The professor should interact with the students. When they do this, typically the class learns better and actually takes something away from the class.
2. Outline:
I. What does it mean to teach
1. Students can find information anywhere
a. Blogs
b. Facebook
c. Twitter
d. Wikipedia
e. Cell phones
2. Show students how to use Google
3. Should curriculum be on skills?
4. Learning plagiarism and piracy
5. How to manage technology in schools
6. Entertainment vs. Engagement
7. Research teaching in the 21st century
After watching Teaching in the 21st Century, I agree with how Roberts sees teaching changing. With all the new technology in classrooms, teaching is definitely not what it used to be. This change will affect teachers because they have to be know about all the new technology and also know how to teach their students using it.
3. Wow! After watching The Networked Student, I learned about so many resources I had never heard of before. I do agree that a "networked student" in the 21st century will, in fact, still need a teacher. The teachers job will be to teach the student how to take the information they have found, store it, and use it properly.
4. Davis' thesis on Harness your Students' Digital Smarts is that students can learn from working together, and also teaching themselves. They way Davis teaches is much like the way Dr. Strange teaches his class. Davis' students really looked liked they enjoyed her teaching method.
5. After watching Who's Ahead in the Learning Race? I believe that elementary students are definitely ahead of the race. They really know how to use the technology they have. They seem to be very familiar with programs that I am just now starting to learn about. I am a junior in college and the elementary students can use technology such as computers and iPad's better than I can.
6.Flipping the Classroom is a new concept to me. I have never heard of this before. I do believe that this approach will be useful to me as a teacher because students will be prepared for and know a little about the lesson for the next day. It will also help to cater to children who may need a little more assistance than others.
7. After reading Bringing the Locker Room into the Classroom You can use games and other means of coaching to engage your class. You can involve them by asking questions and working together to find the best answer. This method can help them become somewhat of an independent learner.

Blog Post 1
Prior to beginning EDM310, I heard that this class is what you want it to be. Someone told me that if you follow directions and turn assignments in on time, you will not have any problems. The same person also told me that you would fail miserably if you do not pay attention to due dates or instructions
My fears for this class are that I will miss something. I try my hardest to follow instructions and meet proper deadlines. I am nervous that I might accidently look over something and miss it.
EDM310 is by far different from any other college class that I have ever taken. This is the first class that I have had that does not involve a teacher standing up and lecturing the whole time. Also this is the first class I have taken that does not require you to memorize information for an exam.
I believe that the most difficult thing for me in EDM310 will be procrastination. I'm not terrible about procrastination, but sometimes it does get the best of you. I know that I cannot afford to procrastinate in this class. It is going to be very important that I stay on top of all my assignments and projects.
The best way for me to avoid procrastination all together is to set aside a certain time, on the same day of the week, every week to get all of my work done. This time should be a time I can sit down with absolutely no interruptions, and concentrate only on EDM310.
At the moment, I do not have any questions about EDM310. I am sure that will change as the semester progresses.

Practice Blog Post
Outline
I. First paragraph
A. My name
B. My age
C. How I came to USA
D. About my husband
E. Where I go to church
II. Second Paragraph
A. My passion
B. Things I love to do
C. The job of an educator
My name is Hannah Armstrong. I am 23 years old, and have always lived in Mobile, Alabama. I attended Faulkner State University to complete my prerequisites. I transferred this semester to University of South Alabama to complete my degree in Elementary Education. I recently got married in March. My husbands name is Colton, and he is an electrician. He is super supportive of me. We also have a cute Miniature Schnauzer named Piper. I work part time at Greater Mobile Urgent Care as a receptionist. I have been working there for 4 years now. While I am not working or at school, I love to spend quality time with my friends and family, and go to church. I attend First Baptist Tillman's Corner. I have gone to that church since I was very young.
I have a passion for young children, and being a part of their education would be ideal for me. Growing up, I always loved to help my mom out with my younger sisters. I also like to help in the children's Sunday School at church. It is there that I found my passion for young children. Becoming a teacher was not a hard decision for me. I believe that educators have a tough job. They encounter many things. They deal with many different children, who may all have different ways of learning. They cater to their needs, all while trying to follow a curriculum. I also feel that educators should have a lot of patience.
After completing this class, I hope to have better knowledge of what technology is available to me, and how to use it. I am pretty computer literate, I thought. After the first couple of classes with Dr. Strange, I fear that my knowledge of the computer and what is available to me is not so great! Hopefully leaving this class I can use all of this technology to the best of my ability.
